UTIs Testing/Treatment

UTI (Urinary Tract Infection) Treatment

If bacteria enter the urethra and travel up into the urinary tract, it can cause an infection of the bladder or kidneys. Urinary tract infections are common, especially among females, but they can also pose a risk of damage to the internal organs. If you have symptoms of a UTI (urinary tract infection), treatment is available through our Beverly Hills Concierge Doctor urgent care clinic in Los Angeles, CA.

Symptoms and Causes of UTIs

UTIs occur when bacteria are spread to the opening of the urethra in the genitals. Urine flow usually removes bacteria that enter the opening, but sometimes bacteria are able to continue into the urinary tract. UTIs can affect the urethra, bladder, ureters and kidneys – the farther up the urinary tract the bacteria infection continues, the higher the risk for complications. Symptoms vary depending on where the infection is – the urethra and bladder are the first and most common areas of infection. Symptoms of early stages of UTIs include:

  • Burning or pain with urination
  • More frequent urination
  • Discharge from the urethra
  • Blood in urine
  • Pelvic pain and pressure

If the infection continues to the kidneys, you may experience nausea, vomiting, fever, back/side pain and shaking or chills. This infection can cause damage to the kidneys and spread to other areas in the body.

Diagnosis and Treatment for UTIs

To determine if you have a UTI and the extent of the infection, lab testing can be performed at our urgent care clinic. Our board certified doctors can collect a urine sample and test for infection. Most simple UTIs can be treated with antibiotics. If you have frequent or recurrent UTIs, there are treatment plans to control these infections to prevent further complications.
